People live in small communities called colonies such as I.C Colony, LIC Colony, Madonna Colony, Marian Colony, Kanti park and Kanderpada. In the Eastern part of Borivali, adivasi people were living in padas (Tribal name for their colony). The colonies were known as padas till their names were changed ,for eg .Devipada, Kajupada and Devlapada. SaiBaba Nagar is one of the famous and crowded place in borivali. Due to the existence Shri Sai Baba temple the are got this name. Most of the inhabitant of this area are from Gujarati community.
The other next area getting famous is Chikoowadi due to link road connected from Malad till Dahisar
